As the US and Morocco approach a milestone 250 years of diplomatic relations, the North African country has become the unique host to both the inaugural and the latest US diplomatic outposts. According to the US State Department, this significant development underscores the deepening ties between the two nations. The American Legation in Tangier, established in 1821, stands as the oldest US diplomatic post globally and the only US national historic landmark situated outside the country. Having served as the primary hub for US diplomatic operations in Morocco for over 140 years, the Tangier Legation currently functions as a museum and a research and cultural center. The newly inaugurated consulate general, situated on a 6.9-acre site in Casablanca's financial district, is poised to bolster US diplomatic engagement in Morocco, with a focus on fostering economic growth, security, and regional stability. The state-of-the-art compound showcases a blend of modern architecture and Moroccan design elements, while incorporating cutting-edge building systems to ensure optimal performance and durability. A notable feature of the complex is the showcase of contemporary US and Moroccan artwork, carefully curated to highlight the significance of cultural exchange in strengthening bilateral relations. The inauguration ceremony was attended by prominent officials, including US Deputy Secretary of State Christopher Landau, US Ambassador to Morocco Duke Buchan III, and US Consul General in Casablanca Marissa Scott.
