Morocco–Melilla: Gradual Reopening of the Border After More Than 36 Hours of Closure

The closure caused major disruption to Operation Marhaba, leaving more than 2,000 travellers, most of them Moroccans living abroad, stranded while waiting to continue their journey. Hundreds of vehicles also remained blocked around the crossing.

The reopening is taking place under reinforced security, with small groups of vehicles being allowed through progressively. The aim is to reduce congestion while maintaining safety in the area. Authorities may close the crossing again if new collective crossing attempts are reported.
