Qatar in Mourning: Father Emir Sheikh Hamad bin Khalifa Al Thani Passes Away

Sheikh Hamad bin Khalifa Al Thani ruled Qatar from 1995 to 2013, before handing power to his son, the current Emir, Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al Thani. His name remains closely associated with a major period of political, economic and diplomatic transformation in Qatar, as well as the country’s growing influence on the regional and international stages.
